165. IDC-101 Poetic Voice
Poetic Voice
Poetic Voice in literature is the presentation of an individual speaker. It connects the reader and the writer in understanding the message of a poem or other pieces of literature. Emotions, mood, attitude, grammar, syntax, tone, rhetorical devices, point of view (first, second & third person narratives) and punctuation help in the creation and development of poetic voice. It together becomes the specific style that the author uses. Each poet or author will have their own poetic voice.
In the poem "The Solitary Reaper" by William Wordsworth, the poet uses metaphors, first person narrative, alliteration (repetition of 's' sound) and others to create the poetic voice.
